In the wonderful book Exorcist (מגרש השדים) there a scene where the possessed girl masturbates violently with a cross. Makes you wonder if that’s what they used for that:

I know that you know it is just a joke about the dildo cross, but seriously, they used a sharp golden cross and Regan had to stab it into a box of fake blood. Actress, Linda Blair, was so young that she didn’t even realise what it was supposed to mean or resemble. She just did what she was told to do and it al worked out well!
